וְהִצְדִּיקוּ, אֶת-הַצַּדִּיק, וְהִרְשִׁיעוּ, אֶת-הָרָשָׁע= Exonerating the Innocent and Convicting the Guilty

By the Bray of Fundie

Ya know I really can't get over you guys. You LOVE to gleefully point out the clay feet of the hero but are blissfully oblivious to your own flaws. DB will starve before eating crow and die (or rhetorically torture others) before owning up to a mistake or a krum Hashqafa. You think of the Avos and the Imahos as our peers , 21st century style humans living life on the same plane as we do, with precisely the same skill sets and conscious and unconscious motivations. This would be ROTFLMHO funny if it weren't so tragic.

You guys are Salieris who, incapable of living with their own mediocrity in the face of Amadeus' genius, develop a new and diabolical coping mechanism. Instead of physically killing Genius you perform character assassination on it until genius becomes indistinguishable from one owns mediocrity. Then, in an Orwellian coup de grace, you turn around and, no longer able to distinguish between Salieri and Mozart, declare them both to exemplify genius of equal rank.

Since you venerate dear old Uncle Esav why not take a page out of his very slim book virtue and concentrate a little more on Kibud Av? Do you think we fulfill לְזֵכֶר עוֹלָם, יִהְיֶה צַדִּיק. or זֵכֶר צַדִּיק, לִבְרָכָה by placing a cute acronym following the deceased's name while simultaneously trashing their reputation? Of all the Avos we carry the name of the third... Yisrael. Connect the dots and you'll see that his struggles with and victories over Esav are the stuff of his G-d-promotional name-change. Wear it with pride and you do honor to it's originator. Trash him and, essentially, you trash yourself.

And while introspection, self-criticism and the ability to see personal and communal warts is the spark firing the engine of T'shuva, growth and self improvement you'll notice that in vidui we say אבל אנחנו ואבותנו חטאנו ! We own up to our own sins first before acknowledging those of our forbears. How ungrateful, insipid and subversive to the whole enterprise of kibud av v'Em it is to declare Rivka and Yaakov conniving cheats while we are men and women of impeccable integrity.

-Remember the Sabbath Day to keep it separate and holy. Gut Shabbos

[DB: Bray's approach and attitude are both idiotic and immature and deserve the fierce rejoinder supplied by SM in the first comment. Any future posts by Bray on this topic will be deleted unless they display a changed attitude or provide some new information. I'm tired of his tired rehashes and pathological inability to understand the other side's merits, or the flaws in this own reasoning.]

---------If you are holier-than-Avos v'Imahos then Buy Dov's book. (please)
